DESCRIPTION:The Club of Rome\, the Fifth Element and Soka Gakkai (SG) are c o-organising an insightful one-day conference titled ‘It's Time for a Hu man Revolution!’. This event will take place on 9 October 2024 at the SG I-UK Grand Culture Centre\, Taplow Court\, and is supported by SGI-UK and the Centre for Applied Buddhism.\n\nThis conference aims to bring together a diverse group of participants\, including academics\, professionals\, y outh activists\, students\, educators\, and representatives from NGOs and international organisations. "No Limits to Learning" revisits global challenges\, inclu ding energy and the arms race\, and explores emerging issues like cultural identity and communication. The book emphasises the importance of new lea rning and education forms to tackle global problems and bridge the gap bet ween our current capacities and the complexities of these issues. The conf erence will highlight the pivotal role of inner transformation\, as discus sed in these works\, in addressing global challenges and fostering a "huma n revolution."\n\nOn 27 August\, Soka Gakai and partners hosted a preparat ory webinar in advance of the conference.\n\nAt the opening event on the 8 th\, SGI Europe Co-Chair Mr. Harrap mentioned that Ikeda and Peccei\, desp ite their different cultural and religious backgrounds\, found solutions t o common human challenges through dialogue. He expressed a desire to model their spirit and practice of dialogue. Three experts\, including Ms. Alic e Ferrario\, a youth coordinator for the nuclear disarmament movement “S enzatomica\,” gave presentations.\n\nDuring the session on the 9th\, hel d online and connecting various locations\, SGI-UK General Director Ms. Ma rchant was followed by Europe Co-Chair Ms. Pritchard\, who spoke about how “human revolution\,” which promotes inner change in individuals\, has the power to fundamentally transform society and the environment. Next\, Carlos Alvarez Pereira\, Secretary-General of The Club of Rome\, delivered a keynote speech. He emphasized that Peccei’s message through various o pportunities was one of curiosity and hope to overcome difficulties\, not pessimism. He argued that “human revolution” is necessary to achieve a society where both self and others can pursue happiness. A panel discussi on was held with David Zandvliet from Simon Fraser University (Canada) and Lucy Attala from the University of Wales (UK).\nWATCH THE RECORDING\nhttp s://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHjjJVhxA-s\n\n \;\nPICTURE HIGHLIGHTS\nht tps://flic.kr/s/aHBqjBRA5Z ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.clubofrome.org/wp-content/uploads/20 24/08/t6.png CATEGORIES:Emerging New Civilisations LOCATION:SGI-UK Grand Culture Centre\, Taplow Court\, Ukraine X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=Taplow Court\, Ukraine;X-AP PLE-RADIUS=100;X-TITLE=SGI-UK Grand Culture Centre:geo:0,0 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VTIMEZONE TZID:Europe/Brussels X-LIC-LOCATION:Europe/Brussels BEGIN:DAYLIGHT DTSTART:20240331T030000 TZOFFSETFROM:+0100 TZOFFSETTO:+0200 TZNAME:CEST END:DAYLIGHT END:VTIMEZONE END:VCALENDAR
