Or even visa-versa?\n\nC ompassion and the economy have more to say to each other than might be obv ious at first glance.\n\nA compassionate approach that incorporates an eco nomic lens asks questions about how the economy operates: the distribution of resources\, the nature of jobs\, what sort of work is paid for\, costs of goods and services\, and provision of amenities.\n\nThinking about the economy using a compassionate lens shifts the emphasis from individuals b ecoming more resilient\, able to withstand burdens and shocks and the punc hes thrown at them to ask why these burdens are there in the first place\, what holds these burdens in place\, and how can they be removed? Economy with a compassionate lens means no less than economic system change.\n\nJo in this conversation style event exploring these possibilities and how com passion requires not only transformation of the economy\, but why compassi on needs to be at the centre of how the change happens.\n\nHosted by Prof essor Liz Grant and Dr Katherine Trebeck (member\, Club of Rome and Glob al Compassion Initiative\, EFI)\, the evening will feature a talk by Sandr ine Dixson-Declève (Co-President of the Club of Rome) and will be follow ed by a dialogue with Mel Young (founder of the Homeless World Cup) and  Arnaud Blandin (entrepreneur-in-residence at INSEAD).
