SUMMARY:Geneva Peace Week Policy Briefing Ethical Reframing of AI: Time for
  a Geneva Compact?
DESCRIPTION:Geneva Peace Week (GPW) is a leading annual forum in the intern
 ational peacebuilding calendar through which organisations in Geneva and t
 heir international partners come together to share knowledge and practice 
 on a diverse range of topics related to peace across contexts and discipli
 nes. Globethics and the Club of Rome will be co-hosting a policy briefing 
 panel as part of this important event.\n\nArtificial Intelligence (AI) is 
 more than just another new technology. From face recognition to voter prof
 iling\, ChatGPT to weaponized drones\, AI technologies present numerous et
 hical challenges. While AI offers significant benefits in many areas\, it 
 also has far-reaching implications for democracy\, security\, human rights
 \, governance\, the environment\, intellectual property\, privacy\, human 
 well-being\, and peace. This panel recognizes that it is necessary\, and u
 rgently so\, to convene diverse actors in order to create ethical AI pathw
 ays\, and along the way to build knowledge and trust between humans and be
 tween humans and machines.\n\nGlobethics and The Club of Rome are co-hosti
 ng a panel to foster a critical dialogue on recent advancements in AI ethi
 cs policies and practical research. The main goal is to explore the feasib
 ility of a multi-stakeholder compact centered on AI ethics. The panel\, le
 d by experienced moderators\, will include experts from various sectors (t
 echnologists\, academia\, the public sector\, the private sector\, and civ
 il society) as well as diverse regions\, perspectives\, and generations. T
 his multi-lens view promises a unique opportunity to hear each other and e
 stablish an ongoing platform for significant progress in reshaping the fut
 ure of AI.\n\nThe session will engage several key questions:\n\n 	How can 
 we create a strong awareness of the changing world with digital and emergi
 ng technologies\, including AI\, and together take the time to process it?
 \n 	What are the primary ethical challenges posed by AI technology\, as id
 entified through recent academic and policy debates?\n 	What type of mecha
 nism is needed for an inclusive multi-stakeholder compact for AI ethics?\n
  	How can this dialogue process ensure that underrepresented voices are be
 ing heard?\n 	What are past lessons learned from digital transformation th
 at can be utilized to shape AI governance on national and international le
 vels?\n 	How can the private sector contribute to the global discourse sur
 rounding the establishment of an ethical compass for AI?\n\nThe session wi
 ll be dynamic and interactive between panellists and audience\, including 
 opportunities for participants to discuss and feed their ideas into the pr
