DESCRIPTION:The Sustainability Research &amp\; Innovation (SRI) Congress i
 s the world’s largest transdisciplinary gathering for the global sustain
 ability community. The third edition of the SRI Congress\, SRI2023\, will 
 be hosted by the National Secretariat of Science\, Technology and Innovati
 on of the Republic of Panama (SENACYT) and the Inter-American Institute fo
 r Global Change Research (IAI) in June 2023\, bringing this global event t
 o the Latin American and Caribbean Region.\n\nSRI congress is taking place
  both online and in-person from 26 to 30 June 2023 in Panama at the Panama
  Convention center.\nToward an International Decade of Sciences for Sustai

 r\, America 2 Ballroom\n\n\nSpeakers include The Club of Rome vice-presid
 ent\, Carlos Alvarez-Pereira\, The International Year of Basic Sciences fo
 r Sustainable Development Chair\, Michel Spiro and The International Scie
 nce Council Chief Executive Officer\, Salvatore Arico.  \n\nBasic science
 s have an important contribution to make to the implementation of Agenda 2
 030. They provide essential means to meet crucial challenges such as unive
 rsal access to food\, energy\, health coverage and communication technolog
 ies. They enable us to understand the impact of the currently 8 billion pe
 ople on the planet and to act to limit\, and sometimes even to reduce it: 
 depletion of the ozone layer\, climate change\, depletion of natural resou
 rces\, extinction of living species.\n\n\n\n\nThis session will be a works
 hop that aims to mobilize sustainability science stakeholders. Its results
  will contribute to building such an international decade.\n\n\n\n
