Brousse, Michel

Michel Brousse, an 8th-degree judo black belt, taught sports history and pedagogy at the Faculty of Sports Science at the University of Bordeaux, France. A former member of the French judo team, he holds a PhD in the sciences of physical activities and sport. As a specialist in secondary school physical education, he was part of a Ministry of Education study group tasked with writing the first national syllabus for high school physical education.

Brousse is the author of several books and academic publications in the fields of judo history and pedagogy. He has delivered lectures to professionals on the history, systems and teaching methods of sport and physical education in many countries. He has also served as media director and official researcher for the International Judo Federation.

Brousse was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette by the Japanese government. He is currently Secretary of the French Academy of Judo, an organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting the educational value of judo.
