Carlos Afonso Nobre is a Brazilian climate scientist recognised for his research on the Amazon and its critical role in the global climate system. He is currently Professor of Climate and Sustainability at the Institute of Advanced Studies at the University of São Paulo (IEA-USP) and co-chair of the Science Panel for the Amazon.
He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), the United States National Academy of Sciences and the Royal Society.
